Logitech MX5500 Review (The Mouse)
Logitech MX5500 MouseMouse

The MX5500 wireless optical mouse features an ergonomic design with two scroll wheels and hyperbuttons. Its rechargeable design I found to be quite handy as saving on battery purchases is always a welcome idea.

The top scroll wheel offers both click and free wheel motion. This is activated automatically on certain screens and activated manually when given a big spin of the wheel. The side wheel activates the Flip 3D function with both wheels usable for scrolling from screen to screen. A top hyperbutton offers a handy web browsing function. Simply highlight a word or phrase, click the button and it automatically opens your choice of search engine with the highlighted subject already inserted and searched. Side back and forth buttons can be used on Word documents for page up and page down, or use them online as handy webpage forward or back buttons.

Conclusion

Overall, the Logitech MX5500 Revolution Bluetooth keyboard and mouse combo offers more functionality than other similar combos. As I used it more, it became easier to integrate hotkeys and specialty functions into normal usage, which did save a few steps here and there. The Bluetooth technology paired up quickly every time and provided seamless operation.

Pros

The rechargeable mouse was a big plus with this unit and its ergonomic design was easy to use and felt good in my hand. Hyperbuttons came in more handy than expected as did the fast click or fly scroll wheel. The LCD screen was nice and offered at a glance functions. Keys are soft and spongy, but comfortable after continuous use. Overall programmability and sleek black design made this a fun and easy to use combo.

Cons

Many functions seemed redundant or easily accessed in other ways. The lack of instructions was extremely frustrating and could have presented button functions and programming much quicker than through trial and error.

As a top shelf combo, its price may discourage the average user, but for people that utilize several screens at once or are prone to use keystrokes instead of clicks, the MX5500 is an ideal keyboard / mouse combination.
