Sync My Ride

Ford and Microsoft SyncMicrosoft is at it again. They have recently introduced Sync – a voice-activated communication and entertainment system to be used in your Ford, Lincoln or Mercury car with your mobile phone or music player.

Enhance your drive with this Bluetooth-compatible system that touts smart voice recognition. This means that you can actually speak to your music player or phones using simple commands. No more buttons to push or menus to operate while on the road. It comes factory-installed by your car dealer.

The Sync works with most Bluetooth phones and allows users to answer incoming calls or make calls with one touch. Voice commands control your address book, call waiting, history or hold, all hands-free. These advanced calling options show up on a display on your car radio, for your convenience. Do you often lose calls while driving? No problem. Sync will reconnect you, with the touch of a button, to your phone and your lost caller.

Text messaging is still widely popular with cell phones, so Sync has the ability to read you your incoming text messages as well as to send any one of fifteen preset responses, through voice-command, by your phone.

Sync My RideThe Sync also has support for multiple phones, up to twelve per unit to be exact. If more than one phone is present at one time in the car, the Sync will attempt connection with the accounts primary phone and then will switch to another linked phone as needed. The unit is fluent in English, French, and Spanish and has instant voice recognition software. So when you’re ready to use it, simply speak to it and it will obey your commands. If only the kids in the car would follow suit!

Worried that your current settings on your phone will be lost upon link-up to the Sync? Relax. Your phone book will be automatically transferred to the unit as well as any special ring tones for your contacts.

The Sync is also a great pairing for your media player. Use voice commands to browse your music by genre or artist by voice command or controls on the steering wheel and is compatible with most media players like the iPod or Zune, and supports MP3, AAC, WAV and WMA files. And the music will just keep going! You can charge your media player whenever it’s plugged in to the USB port when your car is running.

The Sync offers a voice-controlled play similar feature for your media options, including podcasts and audio books, in case you want to continue hearing work from the same author or genre.

Offered in many of the Ford, Lincoln or mercury cars, like the Ford Edge, Ford Fusion, Lincoln MKZ, Mercury Sable, or the Ford Sport Trac. It promises to create a new standard for your driving experience.
