New from ANYCOM is a Bluetooth device called FIPO, which enables any Bluetooth phone or A2DP compatible device to stream audio to other products intended for use with an Apple iPod. FIPO is the “first product to bridge Bluetooth technology and Apple iPod Docking Specification.”
iPod hi-fi and speaker docking systems have become extremely popular. Many consumer electronics manufacturers are taking advantage of iPod’s huge market share by producing these hi-tech iPod accessories. Until now, if you didn’t own an iPod, these docking systems were worthless to you. Thanks to FIPO, non-iPod owners can now make use of these accessories. Instead of your iPod, it is the FIPO that docks directly into the speaker system, allowing it to receive audio streams from any other Bluetooth A2DP device (cell phone, computer, mp3 player, etc).
“To use, simply plug FIPO into the connector designated for an Apple iPod, and it will begin its search for paired devices. After auto-pairing, the devices will have exchanged control commands, like play, pause and next. This allows the user to control the mobile phone in the same way they would control the iPod while in the car; through buttons on the steering wheel or car stereo.”
This is a great move by ANYCOM. With the number of Bluetooth A2DP products growing at an enormous rate, ANYCOM not only provides a great product for iPod users but they have opened up the iPod accessory market to non-iPod owners.
U.S. and European production of the FIPO will begin on February 15th, 2007. It will have an MSRP of $99.00.
