Germany’s PEIKER, an automotive electronics maker for top car brands, recently showed off their BluetouchMusic system at CES 2007. The BluetouchMusic is the “first automotive aftermarket system to fully integrate hands-free mobile technology with multi-media support, allowing users to play either downloaded or streaming music through their existing car audio system with a user friendly interface.”
Using the Bluetooth Advanced Audio Distribution Profile (A2DP) or a hardwired connection, BluetouchMusic allows users to switch between music on their mobile phone, iPod or other MP3 player. It features a user-friendly display, clear touch screen and intuitive menu navigation.
The Bluetouch display measures only 24mm in thickness and 85mm in height but is easy to navigate due to large touch screen icons. The unit also allows users to match display colors to various car interiors. It requires professional installation and will be initially distributed through professional aftermarket channels.
The Hands-Free Menu:
Top List – your top 10 contacts on one touch
Address Book – transfer you address book via Bluetooth
Call Records
Redialing
Keypad – typing as you would on your mobile phone
Voice Recognition
The Music Menu:
iPod – connect your iPod via cable
MP3 via Bluetooth A2DP
MP3 Player – insert 3.5mm stereo jack to connect to almost any MP3 player
BluetouchMusic is the first product from PEIKER to be offered to the U.S. market. It received an honorable mention in the Bluetooth SIG Best of CES 2007 contest. For more information, visit the Bluetouch website.
