Cutting the Cord: Bluetooth Shines at the 2007 Consumer Electronics Show

CES 2007It’s no wonder Bluetooth technology will have an outstanding presence at the 2007 International Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas.

“Bluetooth, probably in the last 18 months, has mushroomed in the market,” said Steve Koenig, senior manager of industry analysis with the Consumer Electronics Association based in Arlington, Va.

They’ve had a presence at the show for more than a decade now, he said, but this year, Bluetooth will have a larger profile than ever before.

“Bluetooth is gaining critical mass and that’s why you’re seeing so many products incorporate that functionality. More and more people are looking at and demanding wireless-type products,” he said.

People are looking to simplify their lives, he explained, and cut the cord wherever possible. More and more consumers are dropping a landline and just using cell phones, for starters.

“People are wanting to untether themselves from hardwire connections,” Koenig said.

Bluetooth has risen to that challenge.

The concern for simplifying, establishing home networking and accessing content on the go is something Bluetooth accomplishes.

The Consumer Electronics Association recognizes this feat. That’s why so many Bluetooth products made the list of Award Honorees at CES 2007, crossing over into double categories.

Here is a list of Bluetooth technology’s products being recognized among the best in consumer technology innovations this year:
