Back in early June Belkin announced the TuneStage® for iPod® nano, a Bluetooth iPod accessory designed specifically for the nano. This Bluetooth stereo device would have allowed you to play music from your iPod nano through your home stereo system wirelessly via Bluetooth technology.
The device was scheduled for release in North America back in July but was delayed indefinitely. Recently, we received news that the TuneStage for iPod nano has been cancelled, and is being replaced with a TuneStage II that will work with both the nano and iPod Video.
A spokesperson from Belkin contacted BlueTomorrow.com with the following statement:
"Not sure if I updated you on the TuneStage nano yet, but we have decided
not to follow through with this product. We will however be coming out
with a TuneStage II that will be compatible with the nano and iPod with
video. That's due out in late September."
We were very surprised to hear the news due to the publicity and marketing efforts given to the product by Belkin. The new TuneStage for iPod nano would have been the follow-up to the original TuneStage for iPod.
The news is somewhat of a double-edged sword. While we are disappointed with the one TuneStage's cancellation, we are extremely excited about the announcement of the new one. The TuneStage II actually sounds like a much better device due to its more diverse compatibility. The TuneStage for iPod nano would have only been compatible with the nano, while the TuneStage II will offer compatibility with almost all models of iPods.
We tried to find out more about Belkin's new TuneStage II. Unfortunately, Belkin's spokesperson said "the only information I have about TuneStage II is that the transmitter will be compatible with both the iPod with video and iPod nano."
As we receive more information, we will be sure to keep you updated. In the meantime, you can checkout the original TuneStage:
