BLUETAKE BT500+ BLUETOOTH SUPER MINI MOUSE (PART 2)

Setup and Pairing

BT500+ Bluetooth Super Mini Mouse Without Cover Setting up the mouse takes a matter of minutes. Included with the BT500+ Bluetooth mouse are 2 rechargeable batteries. All you need to do is press and push the raised area to open the battery cover, install the batteries, slide the battery cover back on and you are ready to go.

Pairing is also very simple. Included with the BT500+ Mouse is a quick setup guide, which includes directions for pairing with most Bluetooth software (IVT BlueSoleil, WIDCOMM BTW, Toshiba Bluetooth Stack, Windows XP SP2 and Mac OS X 10.2.6 or later). Simply follow the directions and you should have no problems connecting the BT500+ with your computer.

Make sure your Bluetooth software supports the HID (Human Interface Device) profile before trying to pair the device. It will not work if the HID profile is not supported.

Battery Life

The BT500+ Bluetooth mouse is rechargeable! This is a great feature to have with a wireless mouse. You never can tell how long the battery life of a mouse will actually last. Even if you determine that the mouse can be used for 20 hours, who actually records how long they have been using it for? God forbid, the battery dies when you need it most and you don't have more batteries lying around. With this mouse, you really don't have to worry about battery life. It's rechargeable!

To recharge the batteries, just insert the included USB charging cable into the Battery Recharge Port of the BT500+. The batteries will be recharged automatically and the mouse will still function while in the recharging status.

Performance and Conclusion

As you can see from the picture below, due to the super mini size of the mouse, my hand covers the entire thing, making it somewhat difficult to maneuver. If you have large hands like me, I wouldn't recommend using it for long periods of time. It can become uncomfortable and cause some strain in your wrist. However, based on performance alone, the BT500+ performs exceptionally well.

BT500+ In Use

If you leave a wireless mouse idle for a while and come back later to use it, there is usually a few second delay before the mouse starts tracking. Bluetake appears to have found a way to minimize this delay with the BT500+. It was very responsive at first touch after leaving it idle for a few minutes.

The BT500+ Bluetooth Super Mini Mouse does have an off button on it's underside. Many wireless mice do not come with this feature and as a result, the batteries drain very quickly. Even though the mouse is rechargeable, we recommend turning the mouse off if you don't plan on using it for an extended period of time. While in charging mode, the mouse is obvioously not wireless anymore since you are connected via a USB cable.

Also featured with the BT500+ Bluetooth mouse is a scroll wheel. This is a definite upgrade to the BT510, which failed to offer one. I use the scroll wheel constantly and feel lost without one.

In conclusion, the BT500+ Bluetooth Rechargeable Super Mini Mouse is a very nice choice if you don't mind the small size. The super mini size of the mouse will aggravate some users, but will also be greatly accepted by others, especially the frequent travelers.
