Bluetooth wireless keyboards and mice basically offer the same benefits and features that most any mice and keyboards provide. Obviously, what sets them apart from other keyboards and mice is the fact that they are enabled with Bluetooth wireless technology (Learn About: Advantages of Bluetooth).
However, since this Website is intended to educate you on all aspects of, we feel it is important to provide you with as much information as possible. So, we will assume you aren't familiar with the different features/benefits offered by the various models/makes of keyboards and mice.
Here is a listing of the features/benefits available with various Bluetooth keyboards and mice:
MOUSE AND KEYBOARD FEATURES:
Bluetooth keyboards and mice have a longer connection range than radio-frequency based (RF) wireless products. For example, if you are listening to music on your computer, you can take your keyboard up to 30 feet away from your computer and still have full control. So, now you won't have to get up to change the song or adjust the volume.
The downside of some Bluetooth keyboards and mice is the fact that they require batteries that must be replaced or charged from time to time. However, most new mouse and keyboard products have more advanced rechargeable batteries and power saving technology that allows for much longer battery life.
- Included Bluetooth Adapter
If you decide to buy a complete Bluetooth
Desktop Suite (includes both keyboard and mouse), a Bluetooth Adapter (AKA transceiver or hub) will most likely be included. The Bluetooth adapter will not only allow your new keyboard and mouse to connect with your computer, but it will also allow you to connect up to five other Bluetooth enabled devices at one time.
INDIVIDUAL MOUSE FEATURES:
A mouse's shape and size can vary greatly among different models/makes. Some mice are designed to fit both right and left hands, while others are small enough to fit in the palm of your hand, making them perfect for traveling. No matter what the design, it is important to find the one that suits your needs.
Most Bluetooth Mice come with optical technology. Optical technology uses an optical sensor to detect movement instead of the traditional moving ball. An optical mouse works on most surfaces and is more durable, dependable, faster and accurate.
Obviously every mouse has buttons, but some have many more than others. Most mice feature a common scroll wheel, which allows you to scroll vertically through documents and WebPages. However, some newer Bluetooth mice have scroll wheels that let you scroll horizontally as well as vertically. Other available buttons include thumb-side buttons (useful for navigating forward or backward through WebPages) and "quick-switch" buttons that let you quickly switch between programs.
INDIVIDUAL KEYBOARD FEATURES:
As with mice, a keyboard's design can vary between different models/makes. For example, some keyboads are completely flat, eliminating any tilt you may be acustomed to with more traditional keyboard designs. Every keyboard offers a somewhat different layout, different in terms of contours and key spacing. One of the nice design features that many keyboards provide is built-in wrist cushions/rests.
Most Bluetooth Keyboards have programmable one-touch buttons or "hot keys" for direct access to any WebPage, file, or program you choose.
Add convenience with enhanced function keys--get instant access to your images, music, documents and common commands.
