Sound Quality
One of the most important tests when reviewing Bluetooth stereo headphones is sound quality. I tested the sound quality using a Bluetooth USB Adapter and the Bluetooth Stereo Dongle. The sound quality came in remarkably clear using both methods.
Since our Bluetooth USB adapter uses AVRCP Bluetooth profile, not only can I listen to my music wirelessly but I can also change tracks easily. Just press and hold the (+) button for 2 seconds to move forward one track or press and hold the (-) button to move back a track.
Cell Phone Functionality
Like most new Bluetooth stereo headphones, the i-PHONO PLUS allows you to take phones calls directly from the headphone if paired to your Bluetooth cell phone. At first glance, I wondered where the microphone was on the headphone. After further investigation, I learned about the built-in retractable microphone which pops out when you need it. I like this feature a lot. Though not as good as a regular Bluetooth headset, the i-PHONO PLUS does handle well on phone calls. I could clearly understand what the other user of the phone conversation was saying and vice versa. He really couldn't tell I was on using the headphones to talk.
Conclusion
After reviewing both the i-PHONO mini Bluetooth Stereo Headphone and the i-PHONO PLUS Bluetooth Stereo Headphone, we are inclined to recommend the i-PHONO mini as the better of the two.
Don't be mistaken, the i-PHONO PLUS certainly meets Bluetake's high standards and does offer great sound quality, functionality, and convenience. However, for our liking, the comfort level does not compare to the i-PHONO mini .
Pros
- Superb sound quality
- Good reception while taking phone calls
Cons
- A bit on the heavy side
- Uncomfortable
- Weak frame
