Bluetooth at the Movies!

In the United Kingdom, Twentieth Century Fox, Vue Cinemas, and WideRay Limited have worked together to offer an in-theater mobile phone promotion. Customers are able to download movie trailers directly to their Bluetooth enabled mobile phones. Also, phone wallpapers related to two of Fox's newest movies are available for download via Bluetooth technology. The two movies are the "Fantastic Four" and the "Perfect Catch" starring Jimmy Fallon and Drew Barrymore. (Maybe they should have chosen some better movies for this promotion?)

Bluetooth at the Movies

Eight Vue Cinemas Theaters in the UK have been running this promotion since July 22nd and it is scheduled to last until August 31.

The promotion works by targeting customers who are already at the movie theaters. In-theater content download displays located in the lobbies of the movie theaters alert Bluetooth mobile device users that they can download the upcoming trailers and wallpapers. Generally, it takes around 30 seconds to download the full-length movie trailer.

In addition to the UK, movie theaters in the US have also started similar programs in New York, Los Angeles, and San Francisco. US moviegoers can download movie trailers, wallpapers, as well as ring tones. You may have seen or heard about these promotions at the Loews Lincoln Square in New York, the Loews Universal Citywalk in Los Angeles, and the Loews Metreon in San Francisco.

Stay tuned, because this promotion may be coming to a theater near you!
