Setup and Functionality

Before use, these headphones need to be fully charged and come with an adapter. It takes a solid 3 hours to complete the charge and they are not functional at all during this time.Motorola S805 Bluetooth DJ Headphones Side The ports for the charging adapter and hardwire cable are located on the left earpiece and are protected by a rubber cover. Though when in place, this cover seems to hold and looks fine, but I do not like this type of cover at all. Re-attaching the rubber piece is a little tricky and it seems fragile, like it may easily break or wear out.

The connection to the iPod Nano was completed with an icombi AP21 Bluetooth adapter that fit snugly into the port of the MP3 player. After the Motorola S805 DJ headphones were charged up, pairing was simple. Pushing the large silver button on the left earpiece with the phone icon and holding for a few seconds connected the two devices easily.

Controls are intuitive and laid out nicely on the earpieces. Each earpiece features a rubber covered control wheel that is spring loaded and actually fun to use. The right earpiece offers a track control wheel that lets you skip forward or back, while the left control wheel adjusts volume. A simple discrete twist quickly changes settings. Silver control buttons are large enough to find and use without any problems. These buttons include a play/pause and stop button on the right, and call button on the left.

Performance and Sound Quality

As a fan of larger style headphones, I was pleased with the Motorola S805 Bluetooth Headphones’ comfortable fit. Even though the headphones may look bulky, they have a balanced weight and are lighter than they look. They fit perfectly over my ears and adjusted easily. I would even go so far as to say that they were one of the most comfortable headphones I've worn.Motorola S805 Bluetooth DJ Headphones Wide

The most notable feature of the S805 headphones is the sound quality. Rich bass, clear high end, and excellent noise isolation makes every song come to life in amazing stereo sound. The only problem I encountered with the operation of the unit was the volume limitation. Whether for listener safety or for protection of the circuitry, the volume level can only reach a certain level. For me personally, it was a bit too low and I wondered how they would sound on a crowded commuter train. I also noticed that the volume controls on the iPod itself were not functioning when paired with the headphones. During listening, only the S805 headphones could control volume and the iPod controls had no effect on the unit at all.

Switching songs forward or back, as well as pausing, was quick and responsive. Again, I have to say - there is just something fun about using the rubberized control wheels. The Bluetooth wireless range limits are as stated in the package information, approximately 30 feet. Once out of range, the music simply stops, and coming back into range resumes play. This may vary depending on the type of Bluetooth adapter you are using with the S805 Bluetooth headphones.

Phone calls can be answered from the Motorola S805 Bluetooth headphones via a phone interrupt button located on the left earpiece. A built in microphone allows for conversation. The increased bass output, combined with the location of the microphone, make it impractical for extended phone usage, but ok for the occasional calls. Not to mention everyone knows what happens when someone tries to talk with full headphones on, they tend to raise their voice too loud, which could be irritating in close quarters. Regardless, when relaxing on the deck to your favorite tunes, taking a call on these headphones would be quite convenient. Plus, the call would be heard through both earpieces, something most of us aren't used to. Though I didn't test them with a gaming console, other reviews have given them praise in that capacity, due to the inset microphone and wireless design.

Conclusion

Motorola S805 Bluetooth DJ Headphones FrontThe Motorola S805 Bluetooth DJ Headphones are a quality product with many positive features. For general listening, they were extremely comfortable and provided outstanding Bluetooth stereo sound quality. Their bulkiness is overcome by their balance weight, and the controls are easy to find and use. My major criticisms were based on personal preference - such as the limited volume levels and the apparently flimsy port covering. The package I received didn't come with the hardwire adapter, so volume levels could probably be adjusted from a stereo tuner to more suitable levels. As far as the DJ part of the “DJ Headphones” is concerned, I feel it is more in the marketing than practicum. I wouldn't be so enthused to use these headphones for hours on end as they enclose the ear, which leads to uncomfortable ear sweat. This is why I wouldn’t recommend them for biking, jogging or working out. Although, they are perfect for travelers and commuters. These are the headphones I want on the plane, to find peace when a cranky kid drives everyone else nuts.

Listening to music on the S805 Bluetooth Headphones is a pleasure. The comfort, combined with the wireless feature, makes them a joy to use in most settings. To be honest, I can't stand the sound or feel of earbuds and was happy to hear the crisp, rich sound of the music. The full ear design of these headphones reminded me of when I was a kid, listening to my vinyl records through what seemed to be at the time giant headphones (remember the ones with the curly wire?). Now, with Bluetooth technology and other innovations, the S805 headphones combine the best of both worlds for a truly pleasurable listening experience.

would be nice to listen with it music from my Laptop. I made a huge mistake! My

I bought one with Bluetooth specification 2.1, but it still not working. I found
out that I need an Adapter with A2DP and AVRCP profiles. Could somebody help me,
please with my long lasting problem and give me an advice, which Bluetooth usb
Adapter I need to buy for finally listening music with these Headphones. My OS
is Windows 7. Thank you in advance. Regards, Goran
