The i-PHONO mini is a stereo headphone that connects wirelessly, via Bluetooth technology, to audio devices, like iPods or portable CD players. With various Bluetooth adapters available from Bluetake, you can turn just about any stereo audio device into a Bluetooth wireless device.

The i-PHONO mini Bluetooth Stereo Headphone has recently enjoyed a boatload of praise and success....and it turns out it is well deserved. The i-PHONO mini was recently given awards at the Bluetooth SIG Best of CES Contest 2006 in the category of "Stereo Audio" and "Overall Bluetooth SIG Best of CES". So, you can imagine how excited we were to get our hands on it.

Packaging

Bluetake's i-PHONO mini is sold in two different packaging options:

  • "The Light Pack" - Features only the headphone and its accessories.
  • "The Combo Pack" - Features the headphone along with the i-PHONO mini Bluetooth Stereo Transmitter (BT450Tx) - designed specifically to attach to an iPod, enabling it to transmit stereo audio to the i-PHONO mini and other compatible Bluetooth devices.

Bluetake also offers a variety of different Bluetooth accessories designed specifically for use with the i-PHONO mini Headphone.

For example, Bluetake’s i-PHONO PLUS BT430Tx Bluetooth Stereo Dongle enables any audio device to wirelessly transmit quality stereo audio by connecting the stereo plug of the i-PHONO PLUS stereo dongle to the 3.5mm stereo out jack of the audio player.

Description

The Bluetake i-PHONO mini is an ear-clip headphone without a solid head or neck band connecting the two circular ear bud-style earpieces. The headphone uses a single tiny wire (About 19.5" long) to connect the two earpieces together. The wire is almost unnoticeable when you flip it around the back of your head.

Using a soft flexible ear hook, the earpieces clip comfortable over both ears, similar to many other Bluetooth headsets. An additional feature we found very handy was the ability of the ear hooks to swing outwards which made putting them on very easy.

The right earpiece has a status LED (Indicates when the device is in pairing mode), a multi-function switch (Adjusts volume, switches tracts, etc.) and a microphone. The left earpiece contains the power plug input. The i-PHONO mini is very light, each earpiece weighing only 1.55oz.

The Bluetake i-PHONO mini Bluetooth stereo headphone comes in three colors; black, white, or charcoal. We received the black model.
