BlueTomorrow.com was recently given the opportunity to review Globalsat’s Bluetooth Entertainment Pack, which consists of the Bluetooth BTH-820 Stereo Headset and the BTA-830 Bluetooth Stereo Audio Gateway/Transmitter. The Bluetooth Entertainment Pack is a simple plug-and-go device that supports Bluetooth technology, offering wireless stereo audio.
The BTH-820 Stereo Headset is designed for use with any mobile wireless device that utilizes Bluetooth technology, such as cell phones, laptops, and PDAs. Any Bluetooth device that supports the same Bluetooth profiles can pair with the BTH-820.
The BTH-820 is about half the size of a credit card and almost as light, plus it comes equipped with a flexible clip, allowing you to wear it just about anywhere or anyway you like. No longer do you have to be directly wired to your bulkier, heavier mobile and/or stereo devices.
The BTH-820 uses the latest in Bluetooth technology, enabling you to wirelessly transmit high fidelity stereo digital audio. It also works with any Bluetooth cell phone, so you can answer calls while leaving your phone in your pocket. The BTH-820 lets you customize your audio experience by allowing you to use any pair of stereo headphones which use a 3.5 mm stereo plug.
The Globalsat BTH-820 Bluetooth Headset supports the Bluetooth 1.2 specification and the following Bluetooth Profiles:
* HS - Headset * HFR - Handsfree * A2DP - Advanced Audio Distribution Profile * AVRCP - Audio Video Remote Control Profile
The Globalsat BTA-830 Bluetooth Audio Gateway, which is about the same size and weight as a deck of cards, will turn your iPod, or any other audio device that offers a 3.5 mm stereo jack, into a wireless music center. The BTA-830 allows you to transmit stereo audio from your audio device to the BTH-820 Stereo Headset, or any other Bluetooth audio device.
We found pairing the BTA-830 with other Bluetooth audio devices and/or cell phones to be a piece of cake. Simply plug the BTA-830 into the headphone jack of your iPod, PDA, MP3 player, CD player, cell phone, or PC/laptop computer and you can begin listening to your favorite tunes through the BTH-820 or any other Bluetooth audio device.
The Globalsat BTA-830 Bluetooth Audio Gateway supports the Bluetooth 1.2 specification and the A2DP Advanced Audio Distribution Profile.

Sound Quality
The Bluetooth Entertainment pack offers vibrant sound with surprising clarity. First, we tested the sound quality by connecting the Bluetooth transmitter (BTA-830) to a laptop’s 3.5 mm stereo headphones jack, and began playing MP3s. The quality was so impressive; there was no distinction between the sound quality using Bluetooth vs. the sound quality using standard wired headphones. As long as we stayed within the range, the sound quality never faded.
Next, we tested the devices sound quality when using it to connect to televisions. It is unlikely that many people will use headphones to watch TV, however we wanted to test everything. Our first test involved using an old 13” TV, then we tested it with a relatively new 32” Toshiba TV. There was a distinct difference in the sound quality. The sound coming from both TVs had some static, but the older TV was definitely worse. As a result, we are led to believe that the sound quality may be affected by the quality of TV that you own. Also, the quality of the headphones that you hook up to the BTH-820 plays a vital role in the clarity of the reception.
