Size and Appearance

Our first impression of the BT510 Bluetooth Mini Mouse was very good. The BT510 is a very attractive mouth with a sleek glossy white finish. The BT510 also comes available in black.

As you can see from the picture below, the BT510 is very small. However, it is the perfect size mouse to travel with and is not too small where it is awkward to use. If you are used to a normal size mouse, the BT510 Mini Mouse will however take some time to get used to.

If you flip the mouse upside down, the BT510 contains the on/off switch, a connect button, a lock button for the battery cover, and the 800DPI optical engine.

Battery Life

Included with the BT510 Bluetooth Mini Mouse are two AAA batteries which are good for about a month of normal use. To change the batteries, just unlock the mouse cover remove and replace the existing batteries.

If the battery power dies while using the mouse, don't worry. The BT510 has a great feature where you can use USB power to power the mouse using the supplied power cord. Rechargeable batteries would be a great feature to add to the mouse.

*Reminder*

When using the power cord, the BT510 Bluetooth Mini Mouse is still be operated via Bluetooth technology and you must stay paired to the computer. The power cord only supplies the power to the mouse not a connection.

Setup and Pairing

Setup is very easy. Just put the mouse into pairing mode, launch your Bluetooth application, and search for the Bluetooth device and connect.

I brought the BT510 mouse and a Bluetooth adapter into work. I inserted the Bluetooth USB adapter into the computer and waited for Windows XP to launch its Bluetooth setup. I easily paired to the computer and was using the mouse in less than 5 minutes.

Another great feature of the BT510 is the reversible mouse buttons. This is great news for left handed users and me being ambidextrous. By pressing the left button and center scroll wheel down for 3 seconds, the BT510 instantly turns into a left handed mouse. Press and hold the right button and scroll wheel for 3 seconds and the mouse is now meant for right handed users. This is all done without the use of any 3rd party software.
