Functions

Plantronics Explorer 350 on clipThe Plantronics Explorer 350 provides all the standard functions of a Bluetooth headset. Conveniently, all the functions are controlled through one multifunction button on the headset’s front face. The LED indicator light is housed within the multifunction button.

The multifunction button allows you to turn the device on and off, reject calls, answer and end calls, engage voice dialing, redial the last number called, and transfer calls between the headset and your phone. The multifunction button also rocks back and forth to control the volume.

Sound Quality

When determining the overall standards of a Bluetooth headset, nothing is more important than sound quality. So, in the case of the Plantronics Explorer 350, the standards are raised significantly because of its excellent sound quality.

With regards to incoming sound, the quality offered by the Explorer 350 was crystal clear with no noticeable interference. I tested the headset while playing music, while driving in heavy traffic, and within a noisy office environment.

While using the Explorer 350 in normal settings, I never received any complaints from callers on the other end. For the most part, nobody even knew I was using a Bluetooth headset. However, when talking in noisy environments, callers said they could hear noticeable interference, but this is usually the case with or without a headset. So, from the standpoint of outgoing sound quality, the Explorer 350 demonstrated excellent performance.

Range

The Plantronics Explorer 350’s user manual states the device will offer a wireless range of up to 33 feet. My tests showed this claim to be very accurate. When using the headset with the Motorola SLVR handset, I achieved a range of up to 30 feet before the signal began to degrade. However, while using the headset with the Motorola E815, the range I achieved was even better, up to 35 feet. At that range, the headset’s signal also remained strong even when traveling through several walls.

Conclusion

The Plantronics Explorer 350 Bluetooth headset attests to Plantronics’ reputation as an industry leader in Bluetooth technology development. Using the Explorer 350 was truly enjoyable and one of the better experiences I’ve had with a Bluetooth headset. Its functions operate intuitively and allow for optimum call control. The headset’s overall design is eye-catching, and for me, the Explorer 350 was probably the most comfortable headset I’ve ever tested. However, other users should note that the earpiece might not fit their ear as comfortably as it did for me. Above all else, it is the Explorer 350’s sound quality which makes it a great Bluetooth headset. The headset offers excellent sound quality for incoming and outing voice transmissions. I certainly recommend this device to anyone searching for an easy to use, high performance Bluetooth headset.

  • Above average battery life, and convenient charging options
