Pairing
Pairing the Jabra BT8040 to your Bluetooth phone or device is simple and transitions smoothly. This Jabra unit also features MultiPoint technology that lets you pair with up to 8 Bluetooth devices and allows connection to 2 devices at the same time. This means you can use this headset with two different cell phones simultaneously or a phone and Bluetooth-enabled media player. Its intelligent call handling interrupts any music when a call comes in and you can toggle from either phone with a simple touch of the call button.
Battery Life and Charging
Jabra maintains that the battery life of the BT8040 offers a 6-hour talk time with a 200-hour standby time, and when tested, this headset did manage a very long battery life very close to Jabra's claims. Charging options include a standard wall charger, but what makes this device simple to keep ready for action is the handy USB charger. This charger simply plugs into your computer right at your desk and charges while you work. The cable itself is short and keeps the headset handy. This also allows the BT8040 to be easily transported so you can simply put it in your pocket or purse and be able to charge it at any computer.
Style and Comfort

When it comes to style I am impressed by the Jabra BT8040 in that its design isn't trying to be too modern. It features a simple shape that is both small and pleasantly discrete. A two tone black and silver housing is attractive and its shape is a slightly angled design. Buttons are flush to the housing yet easy to find and use.
Comfort is one of the main issues that cause problems with Bluetooth headsets. The Jabra BT8040 tries to overcome these issues by incorporating an in-ear soft rubber ear bud that features a contoured insert and corresponding support loop. Ideally, the user simply attaches the correct size of ear gel and sticks it into their ear without having to manipulate an ear loop or hook. It's a novel idea but this design takes some time to get used to as one has to take a closer look at the shape and size of their ear. In reality, ears are somewhat awkward with no two the same.
The different ear gels on the other hand are identical except for their size. Once a moderately comfortable size is found, you simply place it in your ear, give it a slight twist and hope a stiff gust of wind doesn't take your conversation into the gutter, literally.
Though it does take a bit of getting used to and slight adjustments will keep the headset from feeling like it will fall out at any moment, the Jabra BT8040 wears well. Even after extended use, my ear didn't feel sore or stressed. The BT8040 is also ideal for those who wear glasses or sunglasses as the in-ear design does not interfere with the arms of any type of eyewear.
