Style and Comfort

If you’re looking for a super sleek, cutting edge, high-tech Bluetooth headset, then you may want to consider the Jabra JX10 or BT500v instead. However, if you only want a Bluetooth headset that is simple and compact, then the Jabra BT125 should provide just what you’re looking for. In my opinion, the headset’s run of the mill design is neither ugly nor attractively flashy; it is simply a basic and ordinary-looking Bluetooth headset, which is perfectly fine.

Jabra BT125 Bluetooth Headset

Measuring only 2.0 by 0.75 by 0.9 inches and weighing under 0.5 ounces (14 grams), the Jabra BT125 fits the profile of a lightweight, compact Bluetooth headset. It is one of the more comfortable Bluetooth headsets I’ve tested. Throughout my tests I was able to wear the headset for several hours at a time without much concern. At times, I forgot I was wearing the headset.

Adding to the headset’s overall comfort is its flexible, adjustable earhook which can be contorted in just about any way. This feature is remarkably impressive, and a first I have seen among Bluetooth headsets. The earhook is detachable and swivels 360 degrees, allowing the headset to be positioned comfortably on either ear. Plus, the earhook has a rubberized backing which greatly improves comfort.

Functions

The Jabra BT125’s features are basic but meet the requirements most Bluetooth headset users have come to expect. The BT125’s multifunctional, one-touch button lets you answer, end, make and reject calls. More advanced features, also activated by the one-touch button, allow you to dial by voice (if supported by phone), redial the last number and place a call on hold. The BT125 supports the latest Bluetooth 2.0 version, which offers increased transmission speeds and better performance.

BT125 DiagramThe large one-touch button, which is blue backlit when the headset is functioning, is conveniently located on the front of the headset. The operations are extremely easy to perform since the one-touch button controls most of them. On the other hand, the slim shape and location of the volume buttons caused me some difficulty. At times, their flat presence was hard to find which left me struggling to feel around for them.

The headset’s earpiece speaker fit just inside my ear and rested comfortably against my eardrum. However, there were times I wished the earpiece would have been a little more projecting in order to extend deeper into my ear. I think this would improve the headset’s overall sound quality and listening experience. This brings us to the next section:

Sound Quality

With regards to most incoming and out-going calls, the sound offered by the BT125 was extremely clear and static free. When talking to more than 10 different people through the headset, not one person complained about difficulty hearing me. This is impressive considering I have received many complaints in the past using other Bluetooth headsets that cost three times as much as the BT125.

The headset’s incoming sound quality, while very clear, sometimes lacked a sufficient level of volume. There were times, while walking through the city for example, were I really had a hard time hearing the person on the other end of the phone. I would like to have seen the headset’s volume go just a little bit higher. Nevertheless, the overall sound quality was very good, allowing for very enjoyable conversations.

Range

The Jabra BT125, like many Bluetooth headsets I’ve reviewed, had an actual range which was a little less than advertised. The advertised range is 33 feet and my tests indicated it could function reasonably only up to 25-28 feet. In any event, the range was sufficient for any application I would ever need. At 15 feet away, there was no distortion or deprivation in sound quality. Once I reached a distance of 20 feet, I began to notice some static, and at the advertised 33 feet, I lost the signal entirely.

Conclusion

The Jabra BT125 Bluetooth headset provides a pleasant experience with surprisingly excellent performance given its very affordable price tag. The headset is comfortable and without question very easy to use. While the volume level may be a little soft at times, the headset generally offers excellent sound quality for incoming and outing calls. I certainly recommend this product to anyone looking for a simple, intuitive Bluetooth headset, especially for any first-time Bluetooth user.

Pros

  • Affordable price
  • Intuitive, simple design
  • Excellent sound quality
  • Adjustable earhook

Cons

  • Low volume level
  • Volume buttons not easily accessible

Nette  - BT 125 - I lost Mine   |June 18, 2010, 02:25 PM
I have the BT 125 and it is great. I too have the problem with the signal being
lost if my phone is inside something. As for the earhooks, I agree. They break
easily and in the same place. However, I called the company and they mailed me 2
of them totally free. I have since purchased new earhooks directly from the
website. My problem is that i have misplaced my jabra. I am trying to find one
that works as well. You can purchase replacement hooks from the jabra site. Try

Luis Zea  - Defective Jabra BT 125   |February 21, 2010, 11:06 PM
I have purchase 4 BT 125 because the conection is good. However they all brake
earhook in the same place. That makes the product useless since the company does
not provide or sells the replacement hook. To me the product is defective since
it brakes on the same place every time no matter who uses it. Furthermore If you
want to buy the replacement earhook it cost almost the same as buying a new and
complete BT 125. I want all to be aware of that fact. Is there any that you can
do to make the Jabra supply the earhooks?? They shoud be penalize
