Setting up the Headset

For testing purposes I paired the nXZEN Plus Bluetooth Headset with the Motorola E815 cellular phone. I found the quick reference card to be very handy when I was trying to learn the headset functions. I was able to learn the important functions without having to dig through the manual all the time.

The nXZEN Headset is extremely versatile. What I mean is the headset can be adjusted to fit comfortably on almost any size ear. It comes with different size ear hooks and ear tips. Phone ModeI suggest trying them all to find out which combination works best for you. Once the headset fits comfortably, you are now ready to customize the graphic equalizer for the headset (optional).

The installation CD offers a Graphic Equalizer software program which allows you to customize the sound you hear with the nXZEN Headset’s different modes of use: Stereo Music or Phone. In order to use the Graphic Equalizer program, you will need to install it on your PC or laptop running Microsoft XP or WIN 2000. Your computer will also need to be Bluetooth enabled (If your computer doesn’t have integrated Bluetooth technology, then you can use a variety of Bluetooth adapters).

After installing the CD, simply follow the onscreen instructions. Adjusting the equalizer for the headset is rather easy. The CD provides default “Preset” settings to choose from or it allows you establish custom settings to fit your specific lifestyle. The Stereo Music mode allows you to choose between: Classical, Dance, Full Bass, Full Treble, Headphones, Rock, or Soft Rock. With the Phone mode, you can choose between Automobile, Industrial, and office. There are distinct differences between all options.  Stereo Mode

Pairing

Pairing could not be any easier with the nXZEN Headset. Just turn on the headset and hold the PINCH button until you hear 4 beeps or see 4 flashes. Once you have done so, the headset will be in pairing mode. I was able to pair the Motorola E815 with the nXZEN Headset on the first try. The headset detected and paired with the Motorola E815 even without the nXZEN Headset in pairing mode.

Style and Comfort

With its small, lightweight design, the nXZEN Headset is very inconspicuous and really is one of the nicer looking Bluetooth headsets. While wearing the headset on my 45 minute drive to work, I sometimes forgot I was even wearing it.

Fitting the ear hook around my ear was sometimes difficult because the small hook was a little too small and the large hook was too big for my size ear. But once I got it on, it was a perfect fit. I could easily and naturally move my head around without having the headset move. I also like the fact that the ear hooks are made out of soft rubber rather than some headset's hard plastic. I find hard ear clips to be very irritating to my ears.

Functionality

The nXZEN Plus Bluetooth Headset doesn’t lack functionality like some Bluetooth headsets. It offered everything I needed in a Bluetooth headset and more. As previously stated, the headset has two modes: Phone and Stereo Music. Most Bluetooth headsets don’t allow you to listen to stereo music, however because the nXZEN Headset supports the Bluetooth A2DP (Advanced Audio Distribution Profile), you can listen to all your favorite digital music. This is definitely a plus for the nXZEN and sets it apart from the competition. Other functions include: Voice dialing, last number redial, call waiting, call mute, and call transfer.
