Setup and Pairing
Setting up the BlueAnt Supertooth II is extremely simple. The only thing you have to do before using the Supertooth II is to charge the battery for 3 hours. The unit comes with two metal base plates which connect to the Supertooth via powerful magnets. Once attached to your sun visor, the Supertooth II remains securely in place and is tightly locked on. I have had the Supertooth II Bluetooth Speakerphone attached to my sun visor for several weeks without any instances of it moving around whatsoever.
The position of the Supertooth II's swivel arm microphone can be adjusted according to the position of the sun visor; 0 degrees (unit is off), 55 degrees (sun visor up), and 210 degrees (sun visor down).

Pairing is conducted the same way you would pair any other two Bluetooth devices. In order to pair the Supertooth II, you need to simultaneously hold down the pickup/hang-up button and the reject button until the LED indicator changes from red to blue, indicating it is now in pairing mode. Your phone will then prompt you for a passkey. The Supertooth uses the default Bluetooth passkey of 0000.
In the user manual, it seems like there are instructions for every model of phone. I've never seen a Bluetooth device's manual offer instructions for so many models of phones (it really is incredible). BlueAnt does an excellent job with this, making sure not to confuse anyone.
Battery Life
The Supertooth II's built-in rechargeable lithium ion battery offers exceptional battery life. With 20 hours of talk time and an amazing 800 hours of standby time, you will almost never have to charge it. BlueAnt provides two different chargers; a car adapter and regular wall charger. This way you can leave a charger in your car and also in your home. I have yet to charge the Supertooth II after 3 weeks of average use.
Style and Design
The design of the Supertooth II allows for an intuitive user experience. BlueAnt Wireless definitely took into consideration that the Supertooth II is intended to be used when driving and thus made it extremely easy to use.
The appearance of the Supertooth II is somewhat stylish with a black and silver color scheme. The front panel of the Supertooth II features a swivel arm, volume control knob and 5cm speaker, which surprisingly gets quite loud. A Bluetooth indicator light lets you know you are connected and a charge indicator lets you know the battery level. A red light indicates a low battery while a steady green light means it is fully charged.
Performance and Sound Quality
As mentioned in the previous section, the Supertooth II is very easy to use. When a call comes in, the speakerphone plays a ringtone which is very distinguishable. However, if you listen to the radio at a very high volume (I certainly do), you may not hear the ringtone. You'd probably not hear your cell phone ring either, so this can not be held against the Supertooth II. Once you hear the ringtone, simply press the pickup button located on the swivel arm and you are connected. To end the call, press the same button again.
If your cell phone supports voice dialing, you can press the pickup/hang-up button on the speakerphone and you will be prompted for a voice command to make the call. If your phone does not have voice dialing, then you still have to use your cell phone to dial a number. Once you hit call, you can close your cell phone and talk via the Supertooth II.
The Blueant Supertooth II has excellent sound quality. The device comes equipped with DSP (Digital Signal Processing) which cancels out many background noises and echoes. I use it almost every time I get into my car. Even though I do not mind wearing a Bluetooth headset, I prefer not to when possible. So, not having to wear a Bluetooth headset while driving is an absolute bonus with the Supertooth II.
Throughout my conversations using the BlueAnt Supertooth II, most people were quite suprised how loud and clear I could be heard. They had no clue I was using a Bluetooth device, which is always a great indication of a quality device. Conversations with the Supertooth II are also broadcasted in full duplex, which allows both parties to speak at the same time. This is a great feature to have because your conversations don't have to be as if they were on a walkie-talkie; waiting for the other person to stop speaking before you can start.
Conclusion
Overall, the BlueAnt Supertooth II Bluetooth Speakerphone is a great device; one I certainly recommend to anyone who is constantly using their cell phone on the go. With excellent sound quality, tremendous battery life and easy operation, the Supertooth II definitely makes our list of Bluetooth devices to buy. If you are in the market for a less expensive alternative to a Bluetooth car kit, then the BlueAnt Supertooth II is certainly worth looking into.
