Stream music wirelessly from your iPod to your stereo from up to 33 feet away via Bluetooth. The Belkin Tunestage for iPod virtually turns your iPod into the remote control (with a screen) for your stereo. Unfortunately, this Bluetooth iPod accessory does not work with the new iPod nano or the iPod shuffle. The metallic silver and white base with bright-blue LED looks good next to any home stereo. All you have to do is plug the compact base station into your home stereo using the included gold-plated RCA-stereo mini plug cable and turn it on. The TuneStage has both a RCA Jack and a 3.5 mm mini jack for you to choose which end of the cable to plug into your stereo.
Also, along with the base station is the small white transmitter. It plugs into any iPod with a remote-control jack. The Bluetooth connection is automatic.
You can control your stereo with your iPod from up to 33 feet away. According to a review by Michael Kobrin of PC Magazine, the system can work around most interference problems. "We tested the unit at a distance from the base station of about 16 feet while using a microwave oven, and we only experienced a dropped signal when we put our iPod right in front of the oven." (Sounds pretty good to us.) The signal is better than most FM Transmitters thanks to Bluetooth technology.
The Bluetooth transmitter will drain some of your iPod's battery life however, but Kobrin got 10.5 hours out of the 20GB color iPod.
Belkin seems to have a winning product here. Eventually, Belkin will have to put out another version of the TuneStage for iPod for the iPod nano and the iPod shuffle. Using your iPod as a wireless remote is so much better than burning CDs all the time just to listen to your favorite music on your home stereo. And that is a fact!
