South Korean mobile phone manufacturers are in a race to increase their product lines of mobile phones utilizing Bluetooth technology. Samsung was the first company to introduce a Bluetooth phone in South Korea, but sales did not meet expectations. However, this could be the year that Bluetooth technology takes off in South Korea. The release of an estimated 10 new phones using Bluetooth technology is expected by the end of the year.
According to the IDC, the premier global market intelligence and advisory firm in the information technology and telecommunications industries, 13% of mobile phones across the world have integrated Bluetooth technology. This figure is expected to swell somewhere close to 58% by 2008. According to these projections, it appears Bluetooth technology is finally living up to its expectations of being a global standard for wireless connectivity. Bluetooth technology looks to become a worldwide phenomenon and a household name.
