Minibar Systems, which specializes in manufacturing innovative minibars for hotels, offers a revolutionary automated minibar called SmartCube. Using a wide range of technologies, which of course includes Bluetooth technology, SmartCube allows hotels to increase their minibar profits by automating their inventories and offering unlimited product choices.
What really makes SmartCube so impressive is its “ability to upgrade its technology seamlessly from a manual or semi-automated to a fully automated minibar without interrupting the daily operation.”
SmartCube integrates adaptable infrared sensing technology for a large selection of product choices. Easy-snap-in design enables trays to be rearranged at any time, allowing the bar’s menu to be flexible.
SmartCube communicates from the hotel guest room to a server via the hotel’s coaxial cable system. In the room, however, attendants responsible for inventorying the minibars utilize a Bluetooth-enabled pocket PC to lock/unlock the bar, enter sales, etc. This information is then sent to the minibar via Bluetooth and from there to the server. Also, according to Minibar Systems’ Director of Technical Services, Bluetooth will be utilized in order to potentially add wireless devices in the future (additional snack trays, water bottle sensors, etc).
