Alpine, an industry leader in high performance car stereo equipment, and Motorola, a leading pioneer in Bluetooth development, have been working together to introduce the KCE-300BT Bluetooth Interface Module, a device which provides Bluetooth wireless technology to your car.
The KCE-300BT acts as a hub, connecting your Bluetooth enabled cell phone with a Bluetooth compatible head unit. The added convenience of Bluetooth wireless technology will enable you to conduct hands-free calling over your cell phone—allowing you to focus on your driving.
According to the KCE-300BT’s user guide, found on Alpine’s website, hands-free calling is only possible when using your cell phone with an Alpine Bluetooth compatible CD head unit, AV head unit or Digital Media receiver, but we suspect it will work with most Bluetooth enabled car stereos that support the Bluetooth Head Set (HSP) and Hands-Free (HFP) profiles.
Pairing your Bluetooth enabled cell phone with the KCE-300BT allows you to view phone information directly from your car stereo’s head unit display. Information like caller ID, missed calls, dialed calls and received calls. Some Alpine head unit displays will allow you to view contacts and make calls from your phone’s address book (available on the CDA-9883, CDA-9885, CDA-9887, iDA-X001, IVA-D105, IVA-W205).
Hands-free calling is great, but what really makes the KCE-300BT exciting is its support for Bluetooth stereo music. You can stream music from your phone to your head unit, allowing you to listen to the music through your car stereo. You can even control your phone’s music via your head unit by displaying basic song info and through functions like play/pause and track up/down.
Alpine’s KCE-300BT Bluetooth Interface Module will be available in February 2007.
